TERROIR
THE PERFECT PLACE
Filipe Palhoça Vinhos is located in Palmela, more specifically in the Poceirão area, right in the heart of the wine-growing region of the Setúbal Peninsula. In total, we currently have 112 hectares of vineyards divided into 11 properties located in Poceirão, Fernando Pó and Marateca.
The soils are of sandy origin and we have the following varieties planted:
• Reds – Castelão, Touriga Nacional, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet
• Whites – Fernão Pires, Verdelho, Síria, Arinto, Chardonnay, Moscatel de Alexandria and Moscatel Roxo
QUINTA DA INVEJOSA
Quinta da Invejosa is the most important property and where our winemaking center is located. It’s located on the Palmela sand plain, between Poceirão and Marateca, and enjoys a perfect microclimate for vineyards: the intense sun favors the perfect ripening of the grapes, but is tempered by the Tagus and Sado rivers basins that give them freshness.
As a curious fact, the name Quinta da Invejosa (Estate of the Envious) doesn’t arise by chance. For years, the estate was forgotten, but when Filipe Palhoça’s father-in-law saw its potential, soon several interested in buying it appeared. But in this land the word spoke louder and the estate came to the family, who named it for the greed it aroused.
